Why uterine prolapse occurs

Normally, the uterus is held in place by muscles on the pelvic wall. For various reasons, the muscles weaken and the organ descends. “Suspended“ the uterus is largely determined by muscle tone, even in pregnancy it remains in the correct anatomical position.

Why tone is weakening:

  • Complicated labor, multiple or rapid labor, large fetus;
  • genital surgeries;
  • hormonal imbalance;
  • significant physical exertion;
  • sudden weight gain or loss;
  • inflammatory processes;
  • menopause.

Symptoms of uterine prolapse

The main complaint of the patients is a feeling of “foreign body“ near the entrance to the vagina. There can be pain, pulling sensations in the lower abdomen, stool incontinence or constipation, and decreased sex drive.

Prolapse is not only an aesthetic problem. If the edges of the uterus are in contact with underwear, there is inflammation, keratinization of tissues, there is a risk of infection. Also, prolapse leads to inability to have a sex life and psychological discomfort.

    Really enjoyed the MDI clinic. Great attitude towards patients. Applied with the problem of psoriasis (>10 years trying to cure and nothing helps). I was worried about how everything would go, as I was flying from another country, but before arrival everything was discussed with me: what to do, how much time of stay will be needed, cost, accommodation, absolutely everything and I was not so worried.
