Prof. Irit BEN-AARON is a leading Israeli oncologist, an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the digestive system. M.D.. Work experience – more than 10 years.
Irit Ben-Aaron’s research is aimed at finding ways to fight GI oncology, especially in young people. This is very important in terms of the consequences inflicted on the body by conventional treatment, particularly the future ability to conceive and give birth to healthy offspring.
The main professional goal of the physician is to be able to preserve the childbearing function of patients with cancer pathologies.
Prof. Ben-Aaron directs scientific research and studies the side effects of chemotherapy in collaboration with research groups in Israel and the United States. She took an active part in a unique clinical trial: doctors managed to freeze eggs prepared for fertilization, which were taken from cancer patients aged 2 to 18 years who had undergone chemotherapy. Today, ovarian tissue from patients’ ovaries is frozen prior to chemotherapy to preserve fertility. The new method is more reliable in terms of the possibility of recurrence of hormone-dependent cancer and gives very good results.
Irit Ben-Aaron has received many prestigious awards for her significant contributions to science, as well as research grants in Israel and abroad.
