Aplastic anemia
HematologyAplastic anemia is considered a rare and serious hematopoietic disease in which the concentration of red blood cells in the blood is severely reduced. This form of anemia is different from other types of anemia.
Treatment methods
This therapy is relevant for a primary condition in which the immune system works against the bone marrow’s own cells and reduces the number of blood cells.
Patients with this disease may occasionally require transfusion of red blood cells, platelets. The goal is to eliminate anemia. Such therapy has a beneficial effect on the body.
The method is particularly effective. During BMT, the patient is transplanted with healthy bone marrow stem cells from a donor or their own stem cells from before the anemia developed. This allows the blood cells to be restored to their normal state.
This phenomenon causes damage or suppression of the bone marrow, which is responsible for the production of blood cells.
When the body’s immune system begins to attack its own cells, which are in the bone marrow, it can lead to disease. Some chemicals and medications can cause toxic effects on the bone marrow, leading to impaired bone marrow function.
Patients with this disease often have pale skin, gums, and mucous membranes in the oral cavity. It is caused by a decrease in the number of red blood cells. Reduced red blood cells impair oxygen metabolism. This causes a feeling of breathlessness, especially with physical movement.
A lowered white blood cell count determines the body’s ability to fight infections. Patients with the condition suffer from increased susceptibility to various infectious diseases. Elevated fever is also a consequence of an infectious disease.
Diagnosis at MDI Clinic
Clinical analysis is used to determine the percentage of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets in patients’ blood. In the severe course of the disease, there is usually a decrease in all three types of blood cells.
Specialists perform additional tests to rule out the presence of diseases that reduce blood cells – leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome.
The specialist performs a physical examination and observes for symptoms. They manifest themselves in weakness, pallor, tendency to bleed, and elevated body temperature.

Really enjoyed the MDI clinic. Great attitude towards patients. Applied with the problem of psoriasis (>10 years trying to cure and nothing helps).
