Paraproctitis
ProctologyParaproctitis refers to inflammatory diseases that localize in the rectal area and surrounding tissues. It can cause discomfort and pain. It is therefore important to identify and treat this problem in a timely manner.
Treatment methods
A laser beam is applied to the affected area. Healthy tissue is not affected. The probability of recurrence is 0, which is a great advantage of this method.
In some cases, MDI Clinic specialists resort to surgical intervention. Doctors remove the area affected by the pus. Local anesthesia is usually used. It is possible to remove hemorrhoidal nodes at the same time.
The disease can be caused by infections developed due to violation of hygienic rules, microtraumas in the rectal area. Purulent inflammation of the anal glands located around the anus also leads to the appearance of the disease. Mechanical trauma to the anus area, such as with difficult stools or as a result of poor manipulation, can also be a cause. People who have a weakened immune system may be considered at risk.
Diagnosis at MDI Clinic
The specialist performs a physical exam and examines the anorectal area. Patients with suspected paraproctitis are given a laboratory blood test to assess the level of inflammation (measuring C-reactive protein and white blood cell count). This test can confirm inflammation in the body.
An ultrasound is performed to examine the perianal tissues in more detail and identify an abscess. Additional diagnostic methods may include CT scans to determine the degree of inflammation and the presence of an abscess.
Once the diagnosis is made, the patient is prescribed antibiotics to fight the infection. Antibiotics are usually used in combination with other therapies. If a purulent abscess forms, the specialist will drain it to remove the pus. This may require a surgical procedure.
