Diagnosis of bone cancer at MDI Clinic

Diagnosis consists of:

  • X-rays;
  • a biopsy of the neoplasm;
  • PET-CT to look for possible metastases.

Day 1 – after registration, the diagnostician consults the patient. The doctor reviews medical records and takes a medical history. Prescribes a referral for an examination.

Day 2 – carrying out a detailed clinical and biochemical analysis of blood, urine. Biopsy and positron emission tomography are performed.

Day 3 – consultation with an oncologist. An oncologist reviews and certifies the documentation. Makes recommendations and writes prescriptions. Schedules a session of treatments as needed.

Performing surgery for bone cancer

If the tumor is located in the upper part of the bones, it is usually scraped out. Bone preservation is mandatory. The removed bone tissue is replaced with a special cement.

Large tumors are removed and endoprostheses are placed. Even a joint can be replaced. This is how limbs are preserved. The removed part is sent for examination.

Performing cryosurgery

The essence of cryosurgery is to freeze and destroy cancer cells. It’s considered an adjunct to surgery. Liquid nitrogen is used to freeze tumor cavities to negative. Due to this there is a possibility of destroying microscopic tumor cells and reducing the likelihood of recurrence.

Administration of chemotherapy

Chemotherapeutic treatments are administered prior to surgical intervention. Through chemotherapy, there is a chance of shrinking the tumor for further minimization during the procedure. The drug is injected intravenously or into the area with the tumor.

Radiotherapy

Combine radiotherapy with surgery. Radiation temperature destroys remaining cancer cells or treats tumors. When spread or displacement occurs, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are combined.

    Really enjoyed the MDI clinic. Great attitude towards patients. Applied with the problem of psoriasis (>10 years trying to cure and nothing helps). I was worried about how everything would go, as I was flying from another country, but before arrival everything was discussed with me: what to do, how much time of stay will be needed, cost, accommodation, absolutely everything and I was not so worried. Upon arrival I was met, driven to the hotel and was in constant contact with me. Also gave a local SIM card for communication and internet, drove and accompanied everywhere. Was in Tel Aviv for 3 days and during this time visited the doctor, did all the necessary tests and prescribed treatment. After leaving, I am still in touch with the curators and doctors to find out how the treatment is going, whether the medication is helping, my general health, whether I need to send more medication, etc. I am very glad that I visited MDI clinic, as it was the first time I saw the effect of treatment and that it actually helps.
