Hydronephrosis
NephrologyHydronephrosis is a condition characterized by distension or swelling of the kidneys. The cause is an abnormal accumulation of urine. Such a condition occurs in patients at any age. The first symptoms are manifested by back or side pain. Urination becomes difficult. The appearance of blood in the urine is a frequent sign of the disease.
Treatment methods
The disease can be caused by:
- urolithiasis;
- with pregnancy;
- prostate adenoma;
- with ureteral narrowing;
- oncology.
Diagnosis of hydronephrosis
Taking a urine sample allows you to find the infection. The presence of blood in the test material indicates the presence of disease. The doctor pays attention to the increased number of white blood cells. The tests are done in a laboratory.
Catheterization is performed to rule out acute or chronic urinary retention caused by neck narrowing. The disease is diagnosed by ultrasound. It becomes possible to determine the exact cause. If the disease is caused by stones in the ureters, the help of CT scanning is resorted to.
Day 1 – registering and conducting the initial inspection. Tests are ordered and paperwork is collected.
Day 2 – labs, ultrasound of the ureters and kidneys. They’re doing a CT scan.
Day 3 – The urologist establishes a diagnosis, chooses a therapy regimen, and prescribes medications. Then makes a medical report and recommendations.
Ureteral stent placement
By inserting a ureteral stent, the outflow of urine can be blocked. It can be compared to a tube through which urine flows. The procedure is performed under general or local anesthesia.
Nephrostomy tube placement
If the ureter is blocked, a nephrostomy tube is placed to allow urine outflow. It is injected into the kidneys with subsequent withdrawal and attachment with a special reservoir. It is attached to the body and told about proper care.

Really enjoyed the MDI clinic. Great attitude towards patients. Applied with the problem of psoriasis (>10 years trying to cure and nothing helps). I was worried about how everything would go, as I was flying from another country, but before arrival everything was discussed with me: what to do, how much time of stay will be needed, cost, accommodation, absolutely everything and I was not so worried. Upon arrival I was met, driven to the hotel and was in constant contact with me. Also gave a local SIM card for communication and internet, drove and accompanied everywhere. Was in Tel Aviv for 3 days and during this time visited the doctor, did all the necessary tests and prescribed treatment.
