Treatment methods

Diagnosis of liver cancer

To make the diagnosis the patient needs to pass:

  • blood tests to check liver enzymes;
  • an angiogram to examine the blood vessels;
  • biopsy – taking tissue to determine the extent of the disease;
  • CT scan – to obtain images with the size and localization of the neoplasm;
  • magnetic resonance therapy;
  • a sonogram to look for a tumor.

Day 1 – after registration, the patient is consulted by a specialized specialist. He reviews medical records and test results. Writes referrals for examinations.

Day 2 – carrying out a detailed clinical and biochemical analysis of blood, urine. They do biopsies and positron emission tomography.

Day 3 – diagnosis by an oncologist. He summarizes the results of the examination and verifies and certifies the medical records. Makes recommendations and writes prescriptions. If the patient needs targeted therapy, embolization, radiotherapy, a start date is set.

Conducting a surgical intervention

Surgical operations represent:

  • liver resection or partial hepatectomy;
  • liver transplant.

Partial hepatectomy is performed in the presence of a single neoplasm that has not sprouted into blood vessels. The affected part is removed with healthy tissue. The procedure is performed invasively, laparoscopically or robotically.

A liver transplant is possible:

  • if a donor is available;
  • liver damage;
  • detecting a disease that has not affected other organs;
  • in good health.

Radiation and targeted therapies

Radiation therapy is avoided due to the organism’s intolerance to high doses of radioactive radiation. The use of targeted therapies is very effective. Taking medical drugs does not harm healthy cells.

    Really enjoyed the MDI clinic. Great attitude towards patients. Applied with the problem of psoriasis (>10 years trying to cure and nothing helps).
