Types of hearing impairment
- Congenital. These include anatomical defects, abnormalities during intrauterine development, and defects in the auditory analyzer that occurred before birth.
- Acquired. Those that a person acquires by having normally functioning hearing organs from birth.
There is also conductive hearing impairment – the transmission of sound vibrations is impaired due to changes or injuries to the sound-receiving and sound-conducting parts of the ear.
Neurosensory hearing loss is related to the perception of sound. Caused by abnormalities in the auditory nerve, conductive section or subcortical structures. In this type, a person can “hear“ sounds that are not there, or inadequate perception of sound.
Simply put, the first type (conductive) is impairments in the reception and transmission of sounds at the beginning of the circuit, and the second type (neurosensory) is impairments in the reception and conversion at the end of the circuit.
Any hearing loss requires consultation with an otolaryngologist.
Causes of acquired hearing loss
The main reasons are as follows:
- Long exposure to noise and loud noises.
- Lack of ear hygiene.
- Hereditary diseases and mutations (may occur after birth or as an adult).
- Some medications.
- Infections.
- Age-related changes.

Diagnosis and treatment
Diagnostic procedures are prescribed after an examination. Tests are conducted to check hearing acuity, how sound is perceived and transmitted, what frequencies the patient can hear and what frequencies they can’t, etc. It is advisable to do an MRI to detect structural changes in organs.

Really enjoyed the MDI clinic. Great attitude towards patients. Applied with the problem of psoriasis (>10 years trying to cure and nothing helps).
