Almost every woman has heard at a gynecologist’s examination that she has an erosion. Since it does not bother them in any way, many people refuse treatment and further diagnosis. Usually erosion is detected during a routine checkup with mirrors. Sometimes a biopsy (to rule out malignancy) and a vaginal microflora smear are required.

To treat or not to treat erosion?

Gynecologists of the clinic “MDI” in Israel explain why you can not start erosion of the cervix:

  • altered epithelium becomes a favorable environment for the development of bacteria, viruses;
  • this area can become a hotbed of persistent infection that can wax and wane;
  • erosion can develop into malignant cells – then cervical cancer is diagnosed.

Erosion treatment

Modern medicine favors laser coagulation, cryodestruction (cold destruction) and radio wave surgery. The procedure takes 10-30 minutes and does not require hospitalization. The recovery period after is very short – up to 20 days.

The gynecologist will choose an appropriate treatment method. Some are not suitable for unborn women due to scar formation. The main method of preventing the disease and complications will be a visit to the gynecologist 2 times a year.

    Really enjoyed the MDI clinic. Great attitude towards patients. Applied with the problem of psoriasis (>10 years trying to cure and nothing helps). I was worried about how everything would go, as I was flying from another country, but before arrival everything was discussed with me: what to do, how much time of stay will be needed, cost, accommodation, absolutely everything and I was not so worried. Upon arrival I was met, driven to the hotel and was in constant contact with me. Also gave a local SIM card for communication and internet, drove and accompanied everywhere.
