HepatologyHepatitis C is a viral infectious disease that destroys the liver. In general, the clinical presentation of hepatitis B and C are very similar, but they are caused by different viruses.

Hepatitis C destroys the liver, causing the immune system to weaken. This opens the way for other infections and viruses.
Symptoms of viral hepatitis C
They’re not as pronounced as hepatitis B:
- nausea;
- weakness;
- rapid fatigue;
- darkening of the urine;
- a hint of bitterness;
- yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes.
The acute form of this type of hepatitis is asymptomatic and the person is cured spontaneously within 6 months. In other cases, hepatitis turns into a chronic form, which further leads to cirrhosis of the liver.
Diagnosis
It consists of 2 stages:
- A blood test for antibodies to this viral hepatitis.
- At the first positive test, a test for the presence of virus RNA in the blood is performed.
If chronicity is diagnosed, liver damage (fibrosis or cirrhosis) is assessed and appropriate care is provided.
Hepatitis C treatment
Treatment consists of taking antiviral drugs. This approach is successful in 90% of cases, because doctors identify the specific genotype of the virus. Each of them responds to a different cure.
Is there a vaccine for hepatitis C?

Really enjoyed the MDI clinic. Great attitude towards patients. Applied with the problem of psoriasis (>10 years trying to cure and nothing helps). I was worried about how everything would go, as I was flying from another country, but before arrival everything was discussed with me: what to do, how much time of stay will be needed, cost, accommodation, absolutely everything and I was not so worried.
