Dr. Julius EGESCH (HEGESCH)

Dr. Julius EGESCH (HEGESCH) is a world-renowned physician specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects. She has extensive experience working with children of various ages and also sees adult patients in the cardiology department of Assuta, Israel’s largest hospital. To date, the doctor has a total experience of more than 40 years.

The doctor was one of the first in Israel to perform therapeutic catheterization. In 1981, he performed a procedure that was innovative at the time – dilating a child’s pulmonary valve during cardiac catheterization with a balloon. Julius Egesch uses the most innovative treatment methods. In particular, with the help of therapeutic catheterization, he masterfully performs aortic valve replacement, installs the latest stents and balloons to prevent blockage and narrowing of coronary vessels. He specializes in the surgical treatment of complex congenital heart defects in children and adults. Dr. Egesh’s successes attracted the attention of physicians around the world. Many patients from abroad fly to him for professional help.

Julius Egesh received a commendation from the MDA (Israel’s national medical service) for saving the life of a Greek citizen who suffered a heart attack during a flight. For years, he has volunteered to treat Palestinian children with heart disease in the Gaza Strip and helped bring them to the hospital for further treatment. His professional skills and ability to make decisions in emergency situations have saved many hundreds of lives.

Julius Egesch began his professional journey in Italy. He went on to study at Israel’s Technion University in Haifa. After graduation he underwent an internship in leading clinics in the USA. Upon returning to Israel, he began to utilize and implement new methods of cardiac diagnosis and treatment learned in the United States. Because of his achievements in pediatric cardiology, the doctor served as director of the Institute of Pediatric Cardiology at Sheba Medical Center for more than 20 years.

In addition to his busy clinical work, Dr. Egesh is involved in research and teaching. He lectures to practicing students and physicians upgrading their qualifications as part of postgraduate education. Julius Egesch has published more than 90 papers in specialized international journals.

Really enjoyed the MDI clinic. Great attitude towards patients. Applied with the problem of psoriasis (>10 years trying to cure and nothing helps). I was worried about how everything would go, as I was flying from another country, but before arrival everything was discussed with me: what to do, how much time of stay will be needed, cost, accommodation, absolutely everything and I was not so worried. Upon arrival I was met, driven to the hotel and was in constant contact with me. Also gave a local SIM card for communication and internet, drove and accompanied everywhere. Was in Tel Aviv for 3 days and during this time visited the doctor, did all the necessary tests and prescribed treatment. After leaving, I am still in touch with the curators and doctors to find out how the treatment is going, whether the medication is helping, my general health, whether I need to send more medication, etc. I am very glad that I visited MDI clinic, as it was the first time I saw the effect of treatment and that it actually helps. Words can't describe the emotions and feelings when you realize that you will finally be healthy and you can no longer be self-conscious about your skin, wear open clothes, put your hair up however you want, etc.
